Welcome to Regarding Design
Hi there! Welcome to the Regarding Design blog. We may be a new name and face to many of you, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, my business and my design approach.
When I went off to college, I studied accounting, which led me to realize that I never wanted to actually be an accountant. But through the process I did come to learn that what I really wanted was a career that would involve business, creativity and travel.
Years later I can honestly say I’ve been lucky to have the “Act One” career of my dreams. Working for a global retailer, I had the opportunity to work in sourcing, design, and merchandising. I was able to travel the world in search of beautiful, unique designs, seeing firsthand artisans and craftsmen at work, honing their skills. I was constantly inspired by global culture and feasted on art, museums, street scenes and nature at every opportunity.
This experience of traveling the world and living abroad didn’t just influence my design sense. It gave me an appreciation of the universal need to feel at home and have a sense of belonging. It created an insatiable curiosity and eagerness to learn more about different cultures, heritage, and traditions. And it underscored for me the role that technology plays in our homes and the evolving role it will continue to play into the future.
Like many of you, I’ve taken stock of what matters most to me at this stage in my life and over the last few years. Through much soul searching, I came to the conclusion that it was time to go back to the work and environment that brings me joy: Design, Travel, Technology and the business of Home. That joy is the foundation of Regarding Design.
First and foremost, I believe in the power of creating a sense of belonging in your home. No matter what “belonging” looks like to you, that connection between you and your space is complex and unique, and it can make the difference between calm and chaos. My experiences at home, at work and abroad have proved to me that the key to great design is the emotions it evokes - not just the way it looks.
Regarding Design is here and we’re ready to help you create the space that makes you feel like you belong, where you can relish the small, daily rituals of life.
